On 3/30/2013 Jim Lampe cooked “A Good Dinner On A Beautiful Friday”

R.I.P. 9/28/2024
It consisted of crab cakes, Tilapia, asparagus and veggies. I’m not sure why but I bookmarked it and ran across it the other day. Soooooo, Sure…. Why not?

It was hot here yesterday and Buddy was feeling it. He likes to grill but I have a hunch he’s thinking about the AC.

Asparagus with a tarragon butter sauce. We really like this and go through a LOT of tarragon.

Crab cakes and Tilapia with Northwoods Fire on the grill.

Plated. Mr. Lampe originally served veggies, I opted for rice and muffins.

As Jim said, this was a good dinner and we’ll do it again.
As always….. thanks for looking.

nice cook, and just wondering how old is Buddy? Ours are 13 and the other one is 14-15 now.

Russ, Buddy is nine. More information than you wish to know….. He’s our third rescue retriever and we got him when he was three. Seems we were the third owner in three years so it took a while for his trust thing to finally kick in. I got the call from the rescue organization saying they had a dog that would be perfect for us. He was grossly overweight, (123 pounds), didn’t like other dogs, and wasn’t very trusting of people among other things. Add some medical problems to this and he was the complete package. We had previously adopted two other dogs from this place so they knew what we could and could not work with. My youngest son and I made the trip out and we found a dog that could not even run to fetch a tennis ball. Truth is he didn’t care much for us either. Into the crate he went and the rest is history. Buddy is now 89 pounds and seems to like that weight. He bonded with me over the rest of the family but gives all of us, total and complete love. Buddy loves to grill, for real. If he sees me walk out with tongs, uncover a grill, even preparing food in the kitchen, he’s all over it. I still haven’t figured out why though. It’s not the food because I refuse to feed him scraps. After all these years, he realizes he finally has a home. Last year Nancy and I went to Montana for close to two weeks and although he was home with my son, when we returned he actually scared me. He knocked me down, pushed into me and purred. I have never heard a dog purr before. That was the only time he ever did this. I suppose it’s the old story of who rescued who but the bottom line is he’s a good dog.

Excellent cooking Rolf! And I thing what Buddy is showing is "unconditional love" to you and your family!
What a beautiful dog!

A great dinner Rolf! Thanks for the hit pal! ;)
Buddy certainly sounds like a WONDERFUL companion! One I hope will be with you for many more healthy years!

Rolf, I think that Buddy found a great home for sure. We got our oldest girl, Sydney at the local animal shelter. She has been a super great companion.
