Old Bench Vise

I have a craftsman on my bench now. I paid $20 at an auction about ten years ago. It ain't getting rehabbed though. I abuse the snot out of it.

Josh,
That Chas Parker looks sweet. Congrats on the sale of your Craftsman Vise, looks like you put a lot of time in that resto.

That Hammered Green Paint is a nice Vintage color and will look awesome unless you plan to leave it bare like your Craftsman.

I know most of the guys who did paint their Vises used to use and recommend the Hammerite Hammered Rust Finish Spray Paint but it has been long since discontinued.I picked up a can in Blue to use on that one Special Vise I hope to find one day.

If you want a good laugh see what e-bay gets for one can of that Hammerite Green Spray paint. :0

Thanks Jeff!
I have looked and wow $ I'll have to do some research and see what I can find.

I’ve got a BUNCH of vices!
And they're definitely vintage!;)

When I was chronologically young my dad had an old cast iron beast of a Craftsman vise that he'd gotten from his grandfather. In the early to mid '80s the screw finally broke so he took it to Sears because hey, lifetime warranty. The clerk called over the hardware department manager who decided that the warranty absolutely applied and my dad got a new vise. Supposedly the broken vise was going to be sent to Sears headquarters as possibly one of their oldest honored warranties ever, but I have no idea if that actually happened or if it's just family legend now. ;)

And the replacement vise is still going strong. Nicked up and covered with paint overspray here and there after 40-some years, but still up to the task.(y)

I wish Rustoleum offered their hammered paint in that green. I've had good luck using that paint on old castings and the green would be sweet.

That Rust-Oleum hammered Verde green? That's one of them I'd like. They also had a hammered deep green that looks like it would be pretty good also.

Also it looks like there's some really cool hammered green powder coat options.

I thought they had green options in the past, but when I looked at their own website this is what I found - https://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/stops-rust/hammered-spray I wonder why they aren't there but glad to find out those greens are still available!

Just ordered another Vise. Arguably one of the best Vice brands ever made. Reed 204 R. I low-balled him at $120. He counter offered $190 which is a good price but I politely declined. Then he accepted my $120 offer. So happy to have and compare my Reed 204 R with my Chas Parker 974 1/2. The restorations will be different. The Chas Parker has the most amazing vintage patina. It would be a crime to paint over it. The Reed should be a perfect candidate for a beautiful paint job.

Electronics, grills, vises and now axes? I’m serious now, does your wife have a sister? 😃
Electronics is a must. I love listening to quality music. Yes my wife has a sister lol. My wife likes custom jewelry and is into crafts and different hobbies. I'm happy for her to get what she wants. I just want to be treated the same in return. Generally we are both savers and share all of our bank accounts together. Helps being on the same page. Most of what I spend on myself is money brought it from my flipping hobbies.
