Picked up another Vise today. (Chas Parker 974 1/2) This one is probably going to be my Keeper. I love it. Yeah it's just an old tool but it's cool to me. It's big 80 lbs but not too big. In comparison my Craftsman vise is about 20 lbs. The history behind this American company is cool and I can only imagine what this vise has been through. It was patent in 1930 and was made between then and 1945. I like the size and weight and quality and swivel base. We'll see if this one sticks with me for the long haul but I'm guessing it will.
Its very dirty and greasy. I'm not sure how I'm going to finish it yet. I like the raw oiled metal look. If I paint part of it I'm thinking a vintage hammered green would be cool.
