Not A Weber but....TEN HUT!!!

So my good friend and I have another good friend and from this point on will be referred to as Friend#1 and Friend#2.
They are both really...I mean really good friends.

So Friend#1 wants to do some competitions with me. Neither of us have any comp experience, but we both think it would be fun even if we run D.A.L.
When your expectations are dismal, anything above the bottom is a win, no?

Friend#1 tells Friend#2 we need a truck for comps.

Friend#2 gives us this, turn-key (gotta love the waves):

Good start, right? Could be modified with shelves or whatever.
All we have to cook with at this point are my 18.5 WSM, his BGE and a couple of Performers.
We could make due with those.

Then Friend#1 starts looking on the internet...sees this and tells Friend#2 he wants it.
Friend#2 buys it and Friend#1 and Friend#2's son fly to Michigan and drive it back.
Awesome, but not the most comfortable ride as one can imagine.

Here it is with Friend#2's son in the pics:

Tiny, but gigantic. :p

Kinda sad in a way because none of us were ever in the military, but I have another friend who is a classically trained chef who was, so we're gonna try and add him to make it legit. ;)

continued....

Part 2

They get back from Michigan, and Friend#1 gets on the internet again, and of course finds something else.
This time on ebay in Texas. Tells Friend#2 we must have it...Friend#2 makes it so.
He is there right now picking it up. I haven't seen it yet with my own eyes, but I stole the pics and description from the completed auction to show everyone.

Aren't friends swell??
The tank is for propane assist ignition.

We figure we'll use the "tank" truck for any distances under 100 miles...we'll use the other for longer distances.

So now we're trying to come up with a team name.

I like Meat Militia, but suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for taking a peek.

That entire post and your ideas are really cool, but that
Smoker as a tribute to our troops in TOTALLY AWESOME!
I wish you all the best of luck in your Competition Endeavors.

One hell of a cool idea, that smoker is awesome, I can't imagine driving that thing from Michigan to Cali, insane.

Very cool!!!
I don't have a bbq name but if I think of something I will post...good luck..

"The Meat Militia"

I have some experience driving military vehicles. You do NOT want to do long distance in the military truck. However, the box truck looks to be nearly ideal (will need a trailer hitch to pull the new smoker). You can always take the WSM with you for back up:cool:.

You guys will undoubtedly have a good time BBQ'ing at the competitions. Good luck!
