No BBQ Today....

We’ve been CI’in and woking as we’re being pounded with rain. Today alone is expected to be 1.5”. Sorry, I don’t have my cm conversion handy for our metric friends 🤣

Whoa…. Not sure how you would light frozen charcoal.
Charcoal should be a little more difficult, but still light. LP in a 20 lb bottle (okay, 8kg or so, for you, @GrantT :) ,) would be a problem as it just doesn't evaporate well in the tank.

Yes, that is just a tad nippy. Predicted high of 8 F and a low of -7 F here on Wednesday and Wednesday night.

Now you all are making me feel guilty for complaining to DH that I was cold. It is 80F outside here and the AC was blowing cold air on my back. I asked him to cover the vents.

Joan, it's gone from 23 F at 0700 to 18 F now, and still forecast to drop to 13 by 1700. We've gotten about an inch of icy crud here. A coworker who lives about 3 hours (in good weather) north of here has already gotten 10-12" and is expecting more than that yet. When I talked to him a couple of hours ago, he couldn't even open his back door.

OTOH..... when it gets that warm like you have it, there's a limit to what I can take off. And then people just laugh and point a lot.

Freezing rain this morning almost half an inch (1.5cm) nasty as all get out! Glad I have not had to do one blasted thing outside today. Now, 40F out there. Not grilling today, doing some kind of pasta thing tonight.

First snow and cold of the season in Northern Illinois today. Latest since they started keeping records.

Yep, we’ve gotten almost two inches in the last couple of hours! Interestingly enough, I just got fresh gas in the snowblower can! Was not expecting this much this fast.

Wasn't late enough for me. I would have preferred to not have it at all :D though I did try the new snow blower today. I figured this wet heavy stuff would really test it out against clogging and such. It did quite well

I waited till the heavy stuff started to let off but by then it was too late.
My 2 stage clogged up immediately and shoveling that heavy as heck stuff was a PITA.
I'm reheating turkey barley mushroom soup.

...temperatures between -45c and -55c with wind chill. Not even stepping outside!

That would be as low as -67f for you non-metric folk.
We had -70 back in the late 90's in the fox valley, that was with the wind chill.
Obviously we weren't working outside but my stupidintendent called me at home and asked me to go in and install a few BO windows on a job.
I kinda laughed at him but he was serious, so I told him to go have fun with himself.

So...cold spell STILL holding here with a current temperature of -28C ( -18F), but screw it...we wanted a steak! (Cold spell is supposed to break next week....we hope!)

Fired up some Weber Briquettes in the chimney and threw it in the pseudo-SnS setup. Just like in the summer months, temperature settled in at just around 500 (top vent closed, but 4 holes wide open) and bottom vent wide open.

Seasoned up a NY strip and threw it on and flipped a few times until seared. Moved to indirect side until internal temps was about 130 or so....

Threw on some crumbled blue cheese while resting. Nothing like a grilled NY! Nice side salad, mushrooms, baby potatoes....takes the chill away!

That is my problem, but in reverse. It's DH that is taking things off. lol I usually sit out here at my desk with my back to the vent and have a blanket around my shoulders most of the day. It gets so bad sometimes that I have a blanket that I use to keep my legs and feet warm.
