Hey all. My buddy in CA and I have been in contact. Still working through details on materials. My drummer is also a progressive tool and die maker with a fab shop in CT. He's about to retire though. I've kicked over the details to him as he wanted to look it over still.

Wife and I got punched in the gut before Thanksgiving, our 10.5yr GSD pup has terminal cancer. We thought we could fight it with surgery/chemo/radiation but its too far spread. She may not make Christmas, or much past that. 😔😥 Going to be spending time with her and family till her time comes. Won't be able to focus much on anything else till then. Afterward I'll be clawing to distract myself from the grief with projects.

For now Ill say this project will get more attention after the new year. However any small updates I'll add to the thread as they come through.

Thanks all for understanding. I'll keep burning the torch on the project, just may take a bit to get some traction.

I know many of you will not accept that I had similar feelings at the terminal loss of my very special cat. So, if you can accept it, I understand your grief, Gary.
My cat was given to us by the seller of our house and was the best I ever had. I had to put him down last December.

Hey all.

My pup is still with me, beating the odds miraculously, but still on limited time. If shes still with us by next week she will make her 11th birthday. ♥️♥️🐕🐕

My contact in California has been experiencing difficulties sourcing materials for the drip pan. The two sources that came back with their burden cost...WAY too high to even get close to the higher range of what I was hoping to stay in. Between burden cost of materials and fabrication, its not making sense, for now.

Does anyone on here know someone at one of the Weber factory plants? Where the hell did the progressive die go for stamping this pan? Are they hanging onto it or did they trash it years ago for planned obsolescence?

I know someone that worked there during that time period as a quality control manager. He may know the answer to that question. I'll see what I can find out.

Hey all,

Apologies for the lack of updates. By the grace of God, our GSD pup made it to her 11th birthday last week. The tumor however has continued to grow. No idea how much more time we have, treating everyday as a miracle.

Back to this project, buddy in CA is dead in the water. The material costs and manufacturing costs simply do not make sense.

I see on Amazon multiple trays for different Weber models for sale except for the older Genesis x000 models. I made an inquiry to QuliMetal Direct...and we'll...looks promising. No timeline though.

Till the next update!

I also emailed Qlimetal a few months ago. Maybe if enough of us made inquiries it would get Qlimetal thinking about making these.

I did, and they sent me a link saying they do offer one. But the link didn't work.
Hello Bruce,
=====================================

Good day.
Yes, we have a drip pan for the Weber Genesis 1000. Please refer to the below link.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

Best regards.

Oh, wait, now the link is working, but it is for the Silver B, not the Genesis 1000.

Quli has one for 300 series front control and I've personally shown these fit on x000 cook boxes, however the drip catch pan is offset to the right.
