Has any tried the new Kingsford Applewood Charcoal Briquets? It's a new addition to the hickory- and mesquite-flavored varieties of Kingsford.

I can see this being popular with casual grillers.

I can see casual grillers liking this. I have never used any of the flavored charcoal, so I don't know how much it really embarks on the food. Could be good for camping?

Before getting my WSM, I had fairly decent results on a pork butt by throwing some of the Hickory variety on top of lit KBB. It did add a light smoky hickory flavor and was easy to use the way I did. It was an experiment and I only added 6-7 briquettes at the start. I would add a little more than that if I did it again for a long weber kettle session like that.

Barb and I just came back from wally world and I was cruising the BBQ/Grilling aisle and didn't see any yet, but after what I spent on smoking wood at the Woodshed in Cali don't think I would jump on it.

I tried their mesquite version, it was OK. I have my own apple wood and just use that now.

I've gone through about a half dozen bags of this stuff, and I love it. Blue smoke from just moments after you light it. This burns much hotter and faster than the Hickory. You have to plan on using about 130% Applewood charcoal compared to regular charcoal (Kingsford) this charcoal burns hotter and faster than regular Kingsford charcoal, I find that the Hickory charcoal burns about the same as regular. So plan on using more Applewood charcoal than you would if using the regular, but also plan on some really nice cooks. The Applewood charcoal is the bomb, well done Kingsford

I'm with you chuck. I'm in love with apple wood birquets they have a really good sweet smell of apple smoke they burn good to .when the nebors smell those smokeing up in my smoker I no they are jealous lol

Shoot, my neighbor across the street is jealous when I just LIGHT my grill! He stopped by the other day and we chatted about it actually, stood there in four inches of snow talking about grills and guitars!
Just installed new wheels, tomorrow I will test run the adjusted height. Standing by it in the unusual sun today, it feels pretty comfortable.
