Mildly disappointed!

Just saw a Kent Rollins brisket video which contained a terribly blatant product endorsement. The basics of the brisket recipe is just fine but he basically concludes that if you are any kind of aficionado of outdoor cookery you simply MUST have a Yeti cooler!
I ordinarily have no beef (sorry, bad pun) with a suggestion or recommendation of a product this seems extravagant.
I‘m not mad but, I find the advertisement in strange taste. I like a LOT of his messages, this one just seems more commercial that he usually is. I get that he needs sponsors but, simply showing the cooler is product placement enough for me, I don’t need the commentar.
I know this will probably ignite a firestorm but, that is not my intent, merely a disappointment.

I won't get into the product placement side of the discussion but I will say there are 2 very opposite and passionate sides to the Yeti cooler discussion. I've watched things get a bit heated elsewhere over them. FWIW - I have 2 Yeti coolers and just about every cup and tumbler they could possibly make. In truth, I've never paid for any of them. I'm that guy that is apparently hard to buy for so the wife and adult kids have gone down the Yeti path time and again on gift occasions. Yes, they keep things cold for a very long time. On the down side, the larger ones are pretty heavy even when empty and they don't slide into the truck bed or elsewhere very easily at all due to the rubber feet on the bottom of them. I would've never paid that kind of money for a cooler...but I'm still thrilled that someone else felt the need to do so on my behalf.

I'll share this photo just to fan the flames while admitting there's some pretty funny rebuttal memes out there as well.....

The picture says it all!
I’m not knocking the product at all either, got my wife one of their smaller tumblers and, it’s probably one of the BEST travel mugs ever! I’m way, way too cheap to spend that kind of coin on a cooler too! I have eleven coolers, Igloos, Colemans and even a 1964 Thermos (gift from my wife’s former mother in law)! And, YES I use them all if I had a Yeti you bet I’d use it! So, if any of you want to get me a birthday present, you have until august to start the go fund me and I will be overjoyed when the box arrives! Thanks in advance!🤣🤣🤣🤣

Could be like so many other YouTube channel producers Kent has need for extra funds and giving his nod to Yeti is a way for him to continue to make those videos. I am not saying anything good or bad about the decision just my thoughts on his reasoning

Yup. Monetization, aka paying the bills. Disclosure should be mandatory IMO (I also have not watched the video.)

Won't argue that what Yeti produces is awfully good stuff, and certainly priced to match. Do I need a Yeti to rest a brisket? No, not really. My old Igloo coolers seem to work just fine. Would I like one? Sure.... but not about to pay for it at the moment.

Grizzly coolers also look awfully good.

I'm like Tom, I have a couple but I never paid for them either they were gifts from the wife and kids. I have to admit the tumbler I have for beer would be something if I lost I would pay up and replace. I don't have any of their coolers I have one of the newer Igloo coolers and it works great alot better than the old one I had for about 20 years easily holds ice and cold bevs for over a day.

I wish those coolers weren’t so heavy. There is a double thick styrofoam cooler that is light and much cheaper but hard to find.

I watched that video. I didn't think it was that bad. He says something about resting the brisket in "this fine yeti cooler" or something to that effect. I thought the recipe was terrible. Why trim the brisket in that sheet pan where the brisket can't lay flat? He says some nonsense about the rendering fat from the fat cap penetrating the meat, when has been disproven. On that type of cooker you are better off fat cap down. You can tell he has trouble slicing though the bottom of the brisket because it shreds down there, because it's been hammered from the direct heat. That said, I generally enjoy his videos. It's more of hill country type brisket cook so I respect it for that.

I did a brisket yesterday and did just fine without a Yeti cooler.
Now if I was gonna be "off grid" say on a fishing trip to Canada I'd buy one in a instant.

the only yeti product I have is a lowball tumbler with mag slide lid. It was work swag. I've had it a couple of years and its been used a few times. It holds a glass of white wine and keeps it cool. I suppose it could hold some bourbon and keep it cool too.

Wow these are the same people that own their own chickens right now! They obviously know something the rest of us don't.:ROFLMAO:

I’ll buy a couple more briskets and continue to use the Omaha steak cooler that was free!
Yeti? Yeti? I Don’ need no steenkin‘ Yeti!
with apologies to “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre”.
I understand the need for people to have sponsors but, the print article that I read made the need for the four hundred dollar cooler seem like a requirement. I’m just cranky, get off my lawn!
So, nobody has started the go fund me yet? Ever hopeful!😉

Yeti tapped into this market a while back. One of the best things they did was to learn what cambreaus and false-cambreaus can do for long cooks.

Smart move but I'll take my Coleman travel container over my Yeti every time. My Igloo rocks. Keeps fish fresh and cool enough that I'll never give 3x the $$ for something that does exactly the same thing.

Just my two cents. This should probably be posted in the "You know you're getting old when..."

Fwiw, my grandmother's ice-box was basically better than anything out there today. And that was 1930.

I haven't seen that movie in way too long. I need to fix that. A yeti cooler is absolutely a luxury item. You can get a Igloo that's probably just as good but cheaper, but you kind of get in that same price range. I admittedly have one. It kicks ***, but was it a smart purchase? Absolutely not.

If I was going back country, I might understand the need but, most of my need is transport to the cottage or around the back yard, superfluous expenditures are no longer in my future. I’m good. The Omaha steak freebie really is just fine for my needs as far as a resting cooler is required. I have simple needs, I’m pretty simple, ask my wife!

Oh man that Omaha ”freebie🤔” chest is wonderful. Works as good or... than the so called real ones I have.

Kent has a lot of useful content, and I wont fault anyone for monetizing their channel, even with product placements. As far as Yeti goes, I'm sure it's good stuff, but its one of those brands that has garnered the stench of being pricey for status sake, a fanboy brand. 'Oh look, it's a Yeti...'.
Puke.

Yeah, well, uhm...

I'm not from the south.

Cold is not the same as cool, right?

Did I mention my favorite summer drink is....
Iced TennesseeWhiskey
I always thought bourbon on the rocks was an acceptable way of drinking it, but I'm no expert. I can say that I don't find warm beer very palatable.
