Lousy holiday

Here in Sonoma county (Petaluma) California, we were greeted for our holiday with 100 degrees and a spare the air day. Happy holiday %+”&!
However, I have a stash of smoked, reverse seared Tri-Tip, so we are going to have sandwiches with dice tomato, onion, pickles, and pepperoncinis (Sp?) With garlic oil and sat and pepper.
Mary and I used to frequent a local resturant to get a BBQ beef sandwich. This is a close approximation to those. They were my most favorite deli sandwich I’ve ever had.

What is a spare the air day?
No wood burning, as far as I know though you can cook with charcoal or pellet. Cooking wood is ok.
let me know if I’m wrong.
even though we have the spare the air days here on the peninsula I’m sure it’s a bigger deal where you are.

California forest fires have been creating horrible air quality across the state.

This is might be the advisory Mark has in Petaluma.

I believe this is correct that wood or charcoal burning is discouraged, but not prohibited.

Yes, that's exactly it. On days when air pollution is expected to be very high, we're asked to try to minimize air polluting activities, reduce driving if possible, no wood fires in the winter unless it's your sole source of home heating, etc.

Lombardi's, by any chance?

The smoke from California fires definitely isn't confined to the state, We've been choking on the smoke for a month now. We have had a day now ant then where some blue sky peeks through, but it's been miserable for the most part.

The smoke is even showing up here. What looks like cloudy skies many times for us here in the upper MW is "Smoke From a Distant Fire" (note the song reference). Anyway true though. Sometimes we even can smell it

Apologies to all … I forgot the spare the air days (STA) we only unique to California. Did not mean to cause the questions and confusion.

Chris
Not Lombardi‘s but we live about a mile from it and get food there quite often. I was referring to a small sandwich shop in Terra Linda called Sub Hut. Its been closed since the mid 90s. We ate there weekly.

The Spare the Air day which we had the last few days asks for reduction of pollutants. Work from home, don‘t drive etc. Chris summed it up well.
Note that there is a STA days where wood burning is prohibited. I have purchases a Genesis II (SE-335) for such days.

Sandwiches were good, air conditioning kept us cool, and the Giants won. Guess it was a pretty ok day.
