I'm in Wisconsin so we get a decent amount of snow every winter.
The wife and I lived in Illinois for 45 years so we had very little snow every year.
Moved up here 5 years ago(thank you Lord) so I needed a good snow removal tool, this is my go to weapon.
I also have a 60 inch John Deere blade for it.1000008812.jpg1000008813.jpg1000008810.jpg

Southeastern Minnesota, I clear snow with a 28" 2 stage. We only get 40"-60", it works for me.

Now, Dad..... due east of here, about 10 miles east of the Lake Michigan shore....

90hp Massey Ferguson turbodiesel 4wd with a filtered tight cab. It's a orchard model so everything is tucked in fairly close, and there's a charcoal filter on the cab inlet. That's an 8' 2 stage hanging off the front.

Dad froze himself for 50+ years moving snow with an open top tractor and a front blade. He enjoyed moving snow with this rig.

Power steering? What is power steering on a 2 wheel machine?
That's just what they call it. It has a trigger on each handle that disengages the wheel on that side. The remaining drive wheel pushes the machine in that direction so you don't have to wrestle with it to turn it. Not all snowblowers have this feature but I wouldn't go without it at this point. You can turn the machine around on a dime with almost no effort.

I ignorantly assumed that it snowed in Seattle since it's pretty far north.
It does but not enough for more than a snow shovel. Also traffic here is terrible 24/7 and if you add snow to that you can forget about getting anywhere. I grew up on a farm up north by the Canadian border in the country. Got a decent amount of snow sometimes but I always had lifted four-wheel drive trucks and loved to go drift busting. The Northeast wind would whip through from Fraser valley Canada and make some huge snow drifts. I can remember driving day and night. Pulling cars out of ditches. My first truck I bought when I was 15 was a 1977 Chevy short box four wheel drive Silverado with a 400 small block V8. After that I bought a 1969 Ford short box four-wheel drive with a 390 big block. Good times.
