Left overs

I basically cook for just the two of us when we are not having company.
We normally have left over bbq every time we grill.

I find that the Pyrex bowls with lids that Costco has really helps keep in the freshness on most items and their large bowl is perfect for working 1,900g worth of sourdough.
Between the Pyrex bowls, our vacuum sealer and meal prepping we can have healthier meals at decent prices.

Tonight we meal prepped the remainder of the pork butt I smoked the other day into burritos with some good verde sauce, rice, cheese, beans, peppers and a bit of Tabasco sauce.
They turned out really good and it was fun doing the food production line thing with the wife.IMG_1295.jpeg

B.A., my Mom vacuum seals and freezes fresh herbs from our gardens and they work great all year long.
Steve, I’m stealing “It all makes great burritos” from you 👍.

Nice pile of burritos Andy!

We're pretty much in the same boat. Lots of leftovers. Got rid of almost all of the plastic food storage containers too and went with Pyrex for the smaller stuff and stainless for the larger, including a 13 qt. bowl for the big tasks. All of the newer stainless bowls nest nicely, as do their lids, so got rid of a lot of clutter in the cabinets. Also nice using containers that don't stain like the plastic.

I've been vacuum sealing and freezing leftovers that won't be used within a few days and love that they come out of the packages the same as when they went into them, so am hesitant to change that. For overly moist or wet leftovers, I've started to vacuum sealed and freeze in mason jars with good results Need to be a lot more careful when heating them unless you thaw first.

At our house, Wed. is "clean out refrigerator" day. We try cutting most recipes in half, but, we still always wind up with leftovers. As we both are getting older, we seem to be eating less, anyone else experiencing that?
