Kirkland Signature Charcoal Briquettes

So this Kirkland Pro is not (as I had guessed) private labeled Kingsford Pro (pictures below).

I'm a fan of the Kingsford Pro -- hot burn, low ash. Might have to do a side by side test to see which one I like better.

Steak cook went just fine, the Kirkland charcoal seems pretty good. I’ll run a butt soon and see how it does for L&S.
If it does well, yes, I’ll buy dbl 20’s for $18.00 over dbl 18’s for $24! In many ways I’ve become less brand driven, I really done care that much. Age is frustrating, learning never stops but, sometimes the application of that knowledge seems like it’s coming later than I’d have liked!

"I tried the Kirkland brand briquettes and was very disappointed. It burned fast, was not that hot and produced a ton of ash. I was surprised at the performance especially since I like the Kirkland pellets."

Let us know how it does for L&S as I'm planning on doing a butt in the WSM soon as well.

What other forum? I love it here, but always looking for more forums to visit!

Two cooks in and I’m. It finding any significant ash difference, the briquettes are larger so, naturally there will be “some” increase but, as I said, I’m not seeing a huge difference. After smoking a butt I will know more.

I wish they had these at the Costco near me, I would give them a go. Costco does a very good job and bringing quality products especially the Kirkland line. I was watching a documentary on Kirkland wine, i was blown away at the process and high quality of their Kirkland brand.

Overall one thing I've discovered about Kirkland and Member's Mark products. They try hard to make them very high quality products not just "me too generics". Maybe a little more so with Kirkland. For example. I recently stumbled on to a Kirkland Single Malt Scotch. Now this scotch is only $28.99 bottle. Now, I tried this back to back with a bottle of over $100 single malt someone gifted my brother. Truth be told? I preferred the Kirkland. It was smoother both on the initial taste but the "finish" was light as air. Just absolutely about the most pleasant tasting scotch I've ever had

Just did a tomahawk on the Performer with this stuff. Smelled clean to me, reminded me a lot of a Rancher Hardwood 100% Natural briquettes from many years ago (sparks like royal oak and the Rancher). I have to get more.

USA charcoal is extremely costly here in “Ticoland. The other day I roasted some beef using Walmart Brand Charcoal produced in the Country of Paraguay which cost me around five(5) dollars for a 2 kilo bag. We have the excellent “Kingsford “ Brand Charcoal down here at a cost of around thirty(30) Dollars for a eight(8) lb bag:mad: My go-to charcoal Brand for grilling here in Costa Rica is the Kingsford Match Light Which I purchase at a Costco type store at a cost of around Thirty(30) Dollars for two(2) Eight(8) lb bags.

I have been grilling with the Kirkland Pro for a few months, and have not had any problems with it. It lights easily with a propane torch and doesn't have any unpleasant odor.
I am satisfied with the heat and burn time. I don't think that it burns quite as hot as Kingsford Professional, but it lasts longer.
It reminds me of the Royal Oak Chef's Select, but the briquettes might be slightly smaller. The shape is consistent with R.O. natural products.
