John Wayne Quotes

“Fill your hand, You son of a B___h!”
Rooster Cogburn
"Baby sister, I was born game. And I intend to go out that way."
True Grit. One of my favourite films. (The re-make was awful).
"Damn, she reminds me of me." Wayne, smiling, talking to Campbell watching Mattie Ross cross the river on horseback after they thought they had ditched her after having picked up the ferry.
I liked the 1975 Wayne/Attenborough Brannigan.
My favourite John Wayne film. The Searchers. Boss.

From the same movie.
Mary Kate Danaher: Could you use a little water in your whiskey?

Michaleen Flynn: When I drink whiskey, I drink whiskey; and when I drink water, I drink water.

That movie has so many good lines....

Feeney: "Is that a bed or a parade ground? A man would have to be a sprinter to catch his wife in a bed like that."
Michaleen Flynn: "The Borgias could do better."

I love almost all JW movies, especially my guilty pleasure-Hatari! I also love JW’s last film, The Shootist (“Friend, you better get another line of work; this one sure don’t fit your pistol.” And…

“The Quiet Man”! A fabulous movie, it took a lot for Ford to get that made.
Michaeleen (Barry Fitzgerald) upon seeing the destroyed bed onto which Mary Kate Danaher was slung on the wedding night.
Wide eyed, tut,tut,tut “Homeric!”
somone should just post a whole friggin script, they’re all good!

I have been admonished for putting (what I felt was reasonable) a recipe in a “quotes” thread. We were talking about whiskey so, I tucked that in where Duke might like one. I stand by my insertion.

I appreciated seeing the recipe. I’m having my first mint julep later today at a neighborhood Kentucky Derby party. Now, I have a point of reference on taste expectations from someone experienced in making them along with the recipe and options to make them on my own, should I so choose.

From Big Jake—“A man shouldn’t butt into anything that ain’t his own affair.”

Mark, CHOOSE! They are a real delight especially if it’s hotter than blazes on race day! I have made the. Using that recipe since I was maybe, seventeen? This year I’m infusing the syrup. I will advise if it’s better or not.
Side bar, I usually make them about 50/50 syrup to WT 101.

We had John Wayne quotes in a Kentucky mule thread and we are OK with that.

When does a thread ever stay on topic...
Thanks!

“Trying don’t get it done” (actually a misquote, in Rio Bravo the line is “Sorry don’t get it done”) I think they should send me a free replacement glass!

“Can’t stand on one leg, excuse me one limb.” To Yvonne deCarlo (Mrs. Warren) (McLintock) then they proceed to kill several substantial beakers of G.W.’s bourbon, try to ascend the stairs and fall tail over tea kettle back to the bottom! J.W.Slapstick at its best!
Edit,
Something which irks me is the way character quotes are almost always attributed to actors and not the character

I've heard that he said something rather different and definitely not appropriate for all ages, and got it overdubbed.
