January thaw CSRs

Here in New England (home of the Patriots) we have a thing we call the January thaw....basically it just means after a few weeks of freezing your A$$ off , it warms up to the 40's or thereabouts and life can go back to semi-normal. Anyhoo....I've been wanting to cook outside for a while but ...well , you know.
So today it's sunny , about 40 degrees...no reason not to fire up the WSM.
Got a family pak of bone in CSRs the other day....buck forty nine a pound. Not too shabby. Rubbed em up , fired up the ol smoke bomb and off we go!

Little windy , so I set up in the garage , but even then I had to set up some wind block to shelter the vents.

Full charcoal ring , no water , just a foil wrapped brick in the pan. Cruised at 250-275 for the first hour or so. I had the back vent closed and the two front vents just cracked open...top vent wide open. I cooked those CSRs to about 150 IT....Then I put them in a foil pan with a whole bottle of SBRs original and a can of coke. Covered the pan with foil and my plan is to braise them for a couple hours and serve them with some nice baked beans.

I will post a pic of the finished product later on tonight , but for now those little beauties are just percolating in their spa bath of bbq sauce and coke. Right now I'm watching SF And The Panthers and enjoying an adult beverage. See you after supper.....

Went out to turn these in the sauce bath and they smell really good...I think I'll pull them at 5:00 and let them rest while I heat up the beans.

I know my photography won't win any awards , but these came out pretty good. Very tender. Nice smoky flavor and the bush's grillin beans went very well with them. Nice Sunday night supper.

Nicely done, Frank! It was definitely a good day to fire up the Webers here in New England. Looks like you drizzled some hot sauce on top of your beans -- may I ask what you used?

Bush's Grillin' Beans are an excellent addition to any Q or grilled food, for sure! Those CSRs look excellent, as well!
