J.D. lump review

Hello from snowy Colorado. I had ordered some Jealous Devil lump. Got it yesterday morning, look at the mean mean face on there. If the lump is as guud as the face on the bag then maybe we are onto something guud here.

Couldn't wait to give it a try. Dumped it into a container. As you can see there are some nice size pieces. Much like FOGO lump. Very impressed so far with this axe breaker charcoal.

Here we are getting our heat on in 34* weather. As it was advertised there is no sparking when lighting this lump charcoal with a propane torch. Which is very unusual with lump, as you know.

Had some beef short ribs just waiting in the freezer for this occasion.

Here is the proof in the pudding. Beautiful smoke ring with out adding any smoke wood what so ever. 250* for 5 hours. The charcoal burned hot and had a very pleasant south American hard wood smell. It's everything I was hoping for with a long burning lump. I will be adding it to my arsenal of lump. Which includes Jealous Devil, Canadian Sugar Maple, Rockwood, FOGO & Humphries lump. I also use Stubbs briquetes when needed.

Well hope that this review helps someone. Give a bag a shot, you may never go back.

Nice review Russ, only tried lump once when I was given a open bag from a friend and that was a long time ago. Got to say that's a pretty impressive smoke ring for no smoking wood. Might give that lump a try.
Like the first shot of the bag with the snowy back round looks really wintery.

Thanks Russ. Good to see you around again. Great looking cook. That lump looks mighty fine. I will definitely try some of that Jealous Devil. By the way, I could not see your first shot. Just the black x. Sounds like Rich could though. Weird.

Edit.. Now I can see it. Picked up the shot of the ribs on the grate too.
