Oh, that added time and material is 100% in my brain. I come from a flat rate mentality so time vs. cost is at the forefront for me. I’m pretty sure the bottoms are the same for sidewinders and the front controls? Is that accurate?

And would not having the hole in the center change pricing?
Yes, they are interchangeable, except that at least some of the early "sidewinders" had the magnets on the door rather than on the bottom. If going stainless, that wouldn't work since real stainless has little to no magnetic attraction. So, if this were to be pursued, the original bottom loaned to the shop would need to be a newer one with the slots for magnets. A lot easier to add metal plates to the older style doors to cover the magnet hole, I believe.

I would think you would want to go with the propane tank hole, even if not needed in any that you might restore as NG. I don't know what the impact on cost would be if the shop was asked to make some with and some without the hole.

Winding down a little closer to the end of my flips. I thought I had a clear plan for these Genesis ii but now that I have them out I'm trying to quickly decide what direction to go to send these as one or two on their way.

As much as I want to clear out these last few flips as quickly as possible I can't get myself to compromise the quality of work

The stainless one looks brand new. I imagine it would be a very easy sale. I like the way black looks better myself. A keeper?
So the stainless one has a damaged cook box and is also natural gas making a harder sell. So I'm thinking clean up the cook box in the black one as close to New as possible and put it in the stainless grill. Also take all of the Lp off the black one and put it on the stainless one. This will make the stainless one brand new minus the new looking cook box and converted to propane should be easy profit. Maybe I keep the leftovers as spare parts in case I need something for my Genesis ii grills. At least that's what I'm thinking so far as I'm disassembling.

I like that plan, Josh! I know with your workmanship, the "transplant" will look like new. LP is almost always easier to sell than NG.

Since you can't make a complete 2nd one, I think parting out and keeping the good stuff is a smart option. There will be more down the road that will need those parts.

Thank you for your input Jon I always appreciate it! I was second-guessing myself and after reading your message I'm definitely going to proceed with the plan.
