Yes, they are interchangeable, except that at least some of the early "sidewinders" had the magnets on the door rather than on the bottom. If going stainless, that wouldn't work since real stainless has little to no magnetic attraction. So, if this were to be pursued, the original bottom loaned to the shop would need to be a newer one with the slots for magnets. A lot easier to add metal plates to the older style doors to cover the magnet hole, I believe.Oh, that added time and material is 100% in my brain. I come from a flat rate mentality so time vs. cost is at the forefront for me. I’m pretty sure the bottoms are the same for sidewinders and the front controls? Is that accurate?
And would not having the hole in the center change pricing?
I would think you would want to go with the propane tank hole, even if not needed in any that you might restore as NG. I don't know what the impact on cost would be if the shop was asked to make some with and some without the hole.
