It's a pumice stone. I've used it to clean hard water stains in a toilet bowl. I wouldn't recommend it for porcelain. It's a scouring stick, after all, works by abrasion. But it says porcelain, so what do I know?

CLR or equivalent does a great job on hard water and rust stains in a toilet. You just pour it in the bowl and let it sit for a while before brushing the stains away.

I found it strange that the box specifically said carbon buildup, and has a pic of a kettle on it. I have a badly faded lid at work.
 
Could be a scam listing as well as I too cannot imagine sitting on something that long trying to "hold out"
I don't believe it is a scam. The seller has been on FB since 2020 and has other collectible items listed for sale. I think the problem comes down to that, while this is a very nice grill, it is a basic black and not really anything special beyond it being a time capsule. (Yes that is a lot.)

But, I think this is his biggest problem. Here's a used but nice condition virtually identical grill in a high-end suburb of Indianapolis asking just $125:

Yes, I've since discovered CLR, it works wonders in the shower. I look for products containing sulfamic acid as the secret sauce.
