I am officially ready to break some stuff. I was doing some final assembly stuff on a Silver B I was wanting to list tomorrow. Realized I forgot to put the grease tray rails on, and on the last one, the head of the bolt snapped off. So now I am thinking I get to take it all back apart. Super annoyed right now.

That's super annoying. Were you trying to reuse old bolts?

Yup, and they were in really nice shape. I am thinking that maybe this cookbox was one of them that only used a single screw in the middle. But they all went in pretty tough, but never did I think it would break the screw. I wasn't twisting it hard at all. I figured I need to walk away from that issue and try to fix it tomorrow, with a fresh start.

I must say, after drilling that broken bolt out, it is incredibly satisfying watching a sharp drill bit go right thru the center of a broken screw as it pushes off helical shavings of steel. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Still a frustrating extra step, but I was able to learn something from the ordeal.

It looks like you could have also bought a new set of rails that just have the center bolt in them. I don't like those, but a good alternative if you weren't able to drill that out.

I have some of those as well, but I think its a pretty poor design. I much prefer the two screws to the one screw and tabs.

I have a set or two of those. They really cool grates. A couple years ago, they were on sale for much less and the ones I have are billed as 10mm

Yeah. It’s one of those things that I wish I could tell Amazon to tell me when they’re on sale. Or maybe I shouldn’t? lol.
I would think that at that size and triangle shape the middle rod wouldn’t be necessary and they could be more reversible.

These are the ones I have. They were under $50 a set when I bought them. But like a lot of great Amazon products: "No Longer Available".

FWIW I gave that add on a try. It only "sort of" worked. Sometimes it reported accurately (maybe 25% of the time), otherwise really not a really good tool
