Yep, same thing. No version number. It makes sense since those were the first version.
Good question. Probably when they changed the design of the igniter from frameless to the ones with a frame. I just don't know exactly when that was.I'm not sure what year they added the white line around the border of the control panel?
Ok. I guess unless you can compare them side by side it's tough to say for sure the evolution.Well my Genesis 3 still has the frameless igniter but it also has the white border
If I had to guess I would say probably about 1987 was a change from solid black with black knobs to gray knobs and white border. I think when the second generation 1000 to 5000 came out I think that's when igniter frame was introduced?Ok. I guess unless you can compare them side by side it's tough to say for sure the evolution.
No, that change definitely occurred before then. I have seen Genesis 1-5 grills with a framed igniter button.I think when the second generation 1000 to 5000 came out I think that's when igniter frame was introduced?
Ok thanks Steve Good to knowNo, that change definitely occurred before then. I have seen Genesis 1-5 grills with a framed igniter button.
I wish there was a definitive history of all the running changes that have been made over the years. Because Weber didn't date code their grills until the 90's it's very hard to keep track of a running history on them.Ok thanks Steve Good to know

It was for sure before that, and not by a little.Google says 1994 was when Weber started using borders around there ignitor switch but I trust you when you say they were out in the first generation.
