I will just leave this here

I've wondered that myself. I only look at it on my phone though if that makes any kind of difference in the info that pops up.
Maybe because I've looked at listings before and then sent them to somebody else to look at and they ask me why I sent it when it says it's been listed more than 5 years ago but when I look it up it doesn't say that. Same listing different result

You know I'm full Dutch for both sides of my family. Great grandparents on both sides came here from Holland and grandparents after them we're both Dutch as were my parents. I'm not sure there are any people that are cheaper than Dutch

2 full propane tanks😂
I have a friend currently living in Switzerland but who I met (well long story) but shortened, when I helped them find housing here when they moved here from Amsterdam back about 25 years ago.
We called him "Dutchman" or "Wooden Shoes". Guess we now have your new nickname(s) Josh :D

Until proven differently, I will remain convinced that a whole series of grills came like this from the factory. I’ve seen enough of them over the years to no longer believe that enough schmoes went through the effort to remove the swing up table and then reinstall the end cap and bar.
You know, I don't find that difficult to believe... I have picked up quite a few with the bar and end piece there with no swing-up table. And none have had the little SS rod holder on them either. Hoping to come across some more of those. I have tons of the tool holder hooks, but only a couple extra of the ones with the holes.

On a different note, would anyone care to share how they paint the end caps of curved lids. I know we all agree, no paint inside the cookbox. Masking them is not a big deal for me, but I am just curious as to how others take that on.

Perhaps the end of the model run, missing some of the swing up table parts and they didn’t want to produce more, so they fire-saled the few remaining grills. Bet they all have 1999 dates of production.

Now that I think about it... the first curbfind Genesis 1000 was like that, glad I snapped a pic of it at the curb, in June of '23. And frankly, that is what set me in the motion of weberitis. a few days later is when i happened upon my Genesis 2 because I was seeking the parts for the swing up table. It is now my work grill, and rocking durawood shelves and handle. Note - the SN is totally illegible.

It has been a real whirlwind since, lol

I know the early Genesis 1 grills did not have a swing table.

Tom, that's an excellent theory. I see grills pop up around here as well sporting that same look and until now assumed the owner removed that table. The really strange part is why Weber chose to include the end bracket and rod instead of just plugging the hole with a fourth rubber cap.

I could see people using it to hang stuff off of.

I don't really see that since that's what the tool hooks were for, but maybe. Whoever bought the grill still would have had to install the end bracket and rod on it during assembly, so it would have made a lot more sense to just stick another rubber plug in that hole too. In fact, my original 1998 Genesis came with five of those rubber plugs so you got two extra ones to begin with.
