I will just leave this here

I'm sure this is YMMV, but of all the smoke methods I have ever tried on a gasser...tubes, packets, chips, chunks, pellets, Smoke Steam N Chips...the only one I've ever been somewhat happy with has been pellets on a GrillGrate, and that makes too much of a mess for me. Again, IMO, and a smoke tube might be just right for some.

This thread had some good discussion

I've only used a small smoke box with chips so far myself, and usually mix cherry and apple chips with occasional hickory. Even used in my new Q, although with smaller space thinking of getting a tube. I now have a Recteq grill/smoker and plenty of combo pellets, so I'm deciding on the size of tube. Might go small as I already have the box. Pellets might be just the ticket in the near future. Can also use the tube in the Recteq for additional smoke-when I start that thing up the smoke is amazing!

That little Stanbroil smoker box looks like the ultimate. IMO a better option than a tube. Less ash and mess in the grill. Price looks good, stainless steel as well. Looks like the ultimate winner

Re, earlier discussion of using Genesis frame as a table. Dawned on me I still have my Genesis frame sitting along side the house. Badly rusted XMember but with maybe some creative reconstruction perhaps using some Trex type decking I may be able to make something of it

I find having both is useful and I find that I use the shorter one more often with the gasser. It's easier to light when the tube is filled to the end, and I don't like putting the torch so far down the tube on the half-filled long tube and overheating the torch and the tube. If money is tight, you can stuff the big one with balled up aluminum foil to take up space, but again, I like the convenience of having both and using the shorter one for short cooks.
Point taken.... it is hard to light if is less than half --- but I find that I seldom use less than half a tube myself.

I'd say stay away from the Weber and Traeger pellets --- they seem to be pricier and are no better than the Bear Mountain and Kingsford --- just marketing hype.

If you are gonna spend more money on pellets - go for the Knotty Woods - they are worth the premium.

I have this one which has worked fine for 7 years now.

Char-Broil Cast Iron Smoker Box - 4184804P06.

If I was buying today I'd probably go with this one:
