I will just leave this here

Josh, I am sure you are right. Other than emptying the large drip pan one or two times a year, sometimes less, that is about all the grill cleaning that some people do on a gas grill. I have picked up a rehab grill where the owner said "I didn't even know that was supposed to come out." Or you get a grill that is so full of junk, it is literally touching the bottom of the burners and has eating utensils buried in it. They just wait until the lack of maintenance starts causing performance issues and then they push it to the curb and head for Home Depot.

I try to always keep my comments positive but yeah that's just the reality of the situation. I'm thankful for my opportunity to pick them up for free or cheap. At least the ones that are worthwhile to me.

I'm glad you picked those up - that I'm sure was a pretty easy clean up/parts swap for an easy $200-250 grill - altho now is not a good sellors market. I'll have to go poke around and see what you listed them for....

Just saw it...... yep, you'll get asking price - it just might take a while. Your sister didn't want it?

Did you see much in the way of differences in build quality between the original grey model and the re-released black one? I know the grates got much lighter and I was almost convinced that the cook box got thinner too.
The spirit got a lot of interest and sold easily for $250. Yesterday sold the medium size Q 220 for $200. Sold the Q1200 for $250. Gave the baby Q1000 to my sister-in-law. Just the Q300 remaining for sale and that's by far the nicest one of the bunch so if I keep or sell it either way is fine. I may have to clean up and post 2 or 3 newer Genesis out for sale. I think as time goes on this is going to be even more profitable. It's just a hobby and not big money but I think people don't know how to work on things anymore and nobody wants to get their hands dirty. I think definitely in some locations more than others.

You are putting much more effort into cleaning them up than I ever do -- I'll give them a scrape down and a pressure wash and see what I can get for them. Cleaning and wiring them down to perfectly clean and new parts definitely helps command top dollar - but thats more effort than what I want to put into them - especially the Silver/Spirit A/Bs that have trouble selling at a worthwhile price.

I decided to pass on the Spirit I 2-burner today since I don't have time to deal with it..... I hope you grabbed it...

Yeah I saw that one. Not worth it to me

Anyone tried one of these old school lights. I got it for cheap and thought what the heck maybe it'll fit on something I have or maybe I can modify it to fit something. I kind of like the look of it with the Weber logo. Maybe I'll compare it to some of my newer Weber grill lights.

I have that version of it on my Q320. It's sufficient to light up the grilling area of the grate. Not really a lot but IDK it works well enough for my tastes

I have tried several lights (both OEM Weber and aftermarket) and have not found anything that really made me happy. Problem I find with any light that is on the handle is that they are exposed to too much heat. That leads to premature failure. Most of the time, they are not very bright either. I have tried external ones but then you have to deal with them getting in the way during cooks and when using a cover and always need to have the beam adjusted. Those along with the handle style lights use batteries and failing to turn them off after a cook was aggravating. I finally have found a solution that so far suits me great. I noticed some solar security lights at Menards. They are not the big house style, but just smaller area lights. I have been using them a month or so and love them. Never in the way, no batteries to go bad, no exposure to undue heat, plenty of focused light and they turn off when I go out to the grill and turn off 30 seconds after any activity is sensed.
They may not work for everyone that uses a mobile grill set up however. $5 each.

I have 3, 2 on my summit 650 and one on 420. Not super bright but it seems to work just fine. I don't need it to be as bright as a operating room table, I'm just cooking 😜

How interesting. I've had really good luck with newer versions of Weber's handlebar lights. I'll be interested to try this older one to see if it's as bad as you guys say it is. The newer ones are great I've never had an issue in all my years of grilling.

If I have enough sunlight during the day (that will decrease as the season wears on) my solar spotlights seem to work pretty well. The one on the kettle was just fine until about eight PM here last night. After that, I didn’t care! Done cooking and having a bourbon!

Timothy, the ones I have are motion activated and only turn on when they detect motion so unless I am doing an overnight cook and have to check it quite often, I will never use up the reserve capacity on them.

Have big dual flood lights on the back of my house on both sides but I like where my grill sits so utilizing grill handle lights works best for me for now. Eventually I'll do an outdoor kitchen with lighting but that's a ways out still
