I will just leave this here

I would like to hear from you knowledgeable people here. In spring of 2006 I bought a "leftover" 2005 Genesis Platinum B, at the time, the salesperson said that was the last year the Weber's would be manufactured in the USA. A couple of weeks ago I grabbed what turned out to be a 2006 Genesis Platinum C that had very little use, but, all the extended frame welds were broken, the bottom tray was only 25% there, among many other little things. My Plat's bottom tray is near perfect, the spot welds are twice as large, and mine has been outside, cooked on year round, mostly uncovered for 16 years. So is that when China took over manufacturing Weber's?

Weber transferred most of it's manufacturing to China in the new models with front controls on the Genesis line so late 2010 to early 2011. The Spirit line has been made in China for many years. Long before 2010

Bill. Your grills were USA Built, but the spot welds on those frame extensions are a sore spot on all the SS Platinum Genesis grills. The bottom cabinet pan is another sore spot. It sounds like you treated your 2005 well and it has held up very well for you.

I guess for $10 it isn't worth it to make sure the photos are any good.

I've done quite a bit of 3D printing over the past few years and when the Mostly Printed CNC (MPCNC) project came along I built one. I've always wanted to learn CNC and one of the things I need to make are handles for my G4 serving trays. I bought a few redwood fence pickets and here are the results. I've got the profile and fit nailed down but I can't decide if I like the logo or not. Disregard the tooling marks (these are as they came off the machine with minimal sanding) and that the logo is carved 'way too deep at 2mm.

Should I keep the logo?

Great work! Love the logo. Post a pic of your MPCNC. I was worried about mine when I went to reassemble as a few of the screw holes were stripped. I used some wood filler and it worked out.

Post a pic of your MPCNC
Thanks for asking!

It's in a spare bedroom. It's smallish on the Y dimension because I made it small enough to fit through a 30" doorway so I could wheel it outside if necessary. My workspace is about 690mm x 320mm x 94mm.
