I’m One Lucky Guy

Today after many months I was able to take my rescue pup for a walk out in the fields by our house again. My foot is completely healed and I’m infection free, still a little weak from not getting any exercise for months, but much better.

Just me and Whitney and we had the fields all to ourselves. It was a beautiful cool morning and being a Golden Retriever, Siberian husky, Coyote mix as soon as she goes off leash she goes right into her hunting mode. So much fun to watch. Today it was two lizards gifted to me and she spooked two Jack rabbits. She knows she can’t catch them but she sure puts on a good show trying.

An hour of just strolling along the paths and roads, really not a big deal but I’ll never take it for granted again.

Rich:
Good to see out and about with Whitney! Does she do catch and release with the lizards? Weather has improved to more normal temps finally and little to no smoke. Stay safe!

Good to see you out. Gonna be taking the little guy out for some hiking and fishing on the Kishwaukee River here in a few

Yes she does, she brings them to me and drops them in my hand. Looks hilarious when she comes trotting up with a lizard tail sticking out of her mouth and it's wiggling around.
They are a little wet but otherwise unharmed. That's the Golden Retriever in her, very soft mouth.

She is a beautiful dog. We take her down to the Prescott plaza and walk around which is always full of tourists as it has lots of restaurants and shops. People will stop us and ask if they can take her picture, little kids run up to her and throw their arms around her and give her a hug. They usually go away with a wet face from being licked. She is so super friendly with everyone it scares me at times. But in the five years we've had her I've never heard her growl at anyone. Total strangers are treated like their her best friend.
She had a rough start in her life she was caught by a rescue group from here in AZ that goes to the Navajo Indian reservation in New Mexico to pick up abandon dogs. She was running free and surviving on her own for who knows how long. It took them almost two months to catch her.
Sure glad they did.

Ever thought of taking one home to Barb and telling her that dinner's taken care of? ;)
