HOW TO: Weber Q1xx and Q2xx Regulator Delete

I had to put the unit back together so dinner could be cooked yesterday with the 1 lb. tank, but the products I bought are identical to these two images in the posting. Again, my problem is I am unable to attach the "Anderson Metals - 54048-0602 Brass Tube Fitting, Half-Union, 3/8" Flare X 1/8" Male Pipe" which was listed in your original posting, to the Gas Valve (see photo Gas Valve) The threads don't match. The new Fitting did fit the examples to prove it was1/8" threads at the Hardware Store. The problem for me is the gas valve (see photo Gas Valve) will not attach because it is not 1/8", it will not screw into the samples that the Hardware Store uses to verify thread count. This problem is the same problem That you always get when attempting to attach US threads to Metric threads.
I am at a loss, what is not fitting what? You have the flare fitting on so all you need is to attach the female flare fitting on and you good as gold

Thanks everyone for the follow up, BTW, I will take Ed P's suggestion of taking the valve to a hydraulic repair shop, now that it's no longer Sunday. Bruce, Thanks for the offer. :)

There is also a BSPP, a non-tapered thread form that is similar, and that's what your assembly looks like. You can look at the threads on the valve and tell if they are tapered or not. The BSPP is a parallel thread and will not seal on the threads...there is an o-ring or washer required to seal those. Out of curiosity, is it a tapered thread?

It looks like you connected it just fine. Just connect the flare on the LP hose to the flare fitting and you are done.

Bruce, my brass fitting will not attach to my gas valve. I get almost one revolution before the threads bind. The Brass fitting does connect to the new gas hose.

But is it a straight thread? Something is not right here, obviously. Tapered threads seal on the taper and have an interference fit. Your picture shows little or no interference.

It looks as though the adapter is fully screwed down onto the valve threads. If it would only turn on a turn or two before binding, I would think we would see much more of the threads on the valve.

Mike, PLEASE don't take this wrong......................but maybe playing with fittings for flammable gas is not your thing? If you have a good hardware store nearby maybe take everything to them and I'll lay odds someone can help you piece it correctly. Don't bother with a big box store. Go to a GOOD ACE or True Value or whatever locally owned place nearby or find a plumbing supply house

Problem resolved, under $3.00. I took the the joiner 1/8" x 1/8" female & 54048-0602 Brass Tube Fitting, Half-Union, 3/8" Flare X 1/8" Male Pipe" to a Pipe & Hose company in town. The tech there determined the two products Amazon sent were faulty. They had the same product, except theirs worked. My Q120 now hooked up to the 20 lb. tank.
THANKS again, for all the assistance. I would not have succeeded without your help.

I have yet to find anything a company specializing in hydraulics couldn't match up. Seals, glands, fittings of all types and sizes, you name it, they seem to be able to match it up, every time. Glad this story has a happy ending, despite the curveball that you had to deal with!

Someday I want see if someone can match up the gasket from the valves on the square manifold silver b’s, etc.

We have this place nearby, ORings and Things...it's a small shop but literally stocked from floor to ceiling. If anybody would be able to find you a replacement, and if I were a betting man, I would bet you'll find what you are looking for there. Long way to drive, though. :)

While you're out, you can stop by Hose Man, too. These are places that have helped me out in a jam and I highly recommend them. Also want to give a shout-out to McFadden-Dale Hardware. If they don't have it, you probably don't need it. Great places to have nearby!
