How about some good music links?

OK, if not Neil Diamond, are there any Classical music lover fans?

I like quite a bit of Classical, though my time as a music major and the music history class keeps telling me classical is a period, and many people erroneously lump several periods together as classical that don't technical belong. But I ended up being a geologist so I don't get too hung up about it and will still sometimes lump them all together myself. I like me some Mozart (truly Classical period), Debussy (Romantic), and Holst (Post- Romantic/Modern). But as embarrassing as it is to my daughters, I really enjoy driving around with Bach's (Baroque) Little Fugue in G Minor cranked up on the stereo. In fact, new Jeep this year and I can't wait for a warm enough day to do just that with the top down. Bach Rocks!!

"Southern Rock" ... a genre that defined the 70's and early 80's thanks to pioneers such as Skynyrd, Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniels, 38 Special, Molly Hatchet among many others. Not too many left of those forefathers left and few newer bands are around keeping that style alive. BlackBerry Smoke is a band hailing from Georgia giving credence and justice to the Southern-Country-Rock jam format in their catchy and unique way.

For you Little Feat fans... check out the third song below and tell me Lowell George's legacy is felt and continues on! I can hear his influence (if not downright plagiarism ...LOL) Delilah is recently dropped song by the band- good to hear some new stuff by them. The first two songs are "unplugged" versions of their earlier tunes.

Fellow music fans, check out Blackberry Smoke:

How 'bout some Blues on Friday? How would you like to have this crew play at one of your backyard cookouts?
It's not my first choice in music but I can for sure get behind a lot of things going on here.
My only concern is that guitar at least 18 years of age because the things she does to it.......
its pretty amazing.

Some more BS.... This remake should be everyone's theme song regardless of the times, situations, affiliations, et. al....

...this one with Jimmy Hall doing the old Wet Willie hit:

Check out The Piano Guys. Not only do they perform their interpretations of the Classic Masters, but also modern covers of popular songs.
Story behind the song:

The American Heritage Lyceum Philharmonic (Youth Orchestra) and its director, Kayson Brown, approached us with this idea. We loved it. It combined two of the things we are working to accomplish -- inviting people to classical music and inspiring young musicians. Steven Sharp Nelson had soloed with the orchestra the previous year and loved the spirit and the talent that the orchestra showed at such young ages (ages 13-18!) Together we developed the concept of "Beethoven's 5 Secrets," combining OneRepublic's tune "Secrets" with melodies and moments from all four movements of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. We used 5 different melodies from the 4 movements of Beethoven's 5th Symphony (not including the "bridge" the orchestra plays in the middle). Try to guess where they are and where they come from! What are Beethoven's secrets? He had many. His most prominent secret that he desperately tried to keep from the public and that caused him to be considered extremely eccentric, irritable, and hermit-like was his "weakness." He was deaf during most of his life. Imagine that...one of the greatest composers that ever lived could hardly hear. And yet, he wrote his life's greatest works after becoming deaf. He believed that art itself had "secrets" that had to be "forced into" in order to obtain art's highest level. There is no doubt Beethoven discovered many of the "secrets" of art -- people all over the world enjoy them every day. He was a true master of music, blessed by God. This piece and video are dedicated to him.

2Cellos, who in addition to the Classics, also perform their interpretations of popular song in a classic style (of sorts) since it can be a bit more aggressive.

They are a Croatian cellist duo, consisting of classically trained cellists, Luka Šulić and Stjepan Hauser. They play instrumental arrangements of well-known pop and rock songs, as well as classical and film music. The duo performs internationally and has been featured on several American television series including Glee and The Bachelor.
