Hot towel in microwave

This is the strangest tip I've ever shared on this forum. Please don't make fun of me. :)

You know how long it takes to run hot water to the sink when all you want is a warm wash cloth? A waste of time and water. Then it dawned on me...use cold water to wet the wash cloth, wring it out, roll it up like a jelly roll and microwave for 25-30 seconds. Piping hot towel, no wasted water, and about 1/10 of 1¢ in electricity. Brilliant! This must be what they do on airplanes when they offer you a warm towel at the end of a long flight. (Remember flying?)

Of course, your microwave time will vary. Use care, the water can get really hot if you microwave too long.

Yes... good tip... not strange at all. I do this for general kitchen cleaning (add the soap after nuking it.)

I add a couple of drops of reconstipated lemon juice on a different towel for a fresh scent for hot rinsing after the cleaning.

Also... I do the same procedure only with a paper towel for cleaning the inside of the MW itself... a lot cheaper than those pre-packaged microwave cleaners that use the same concept.

Yep we did much the same thing on the airplanes for the first class cabin guests when we served a meal on board

Great idea! I can't believe I haven't thought of it before. We have a tankless water heater in the basement, and it takes a minute or so for the hot water to get to the kitchen.

Good tip, Chris!

.....not in the seats I fly in, big spender!!! ;)

Oh, I wish! No, I guess I’m thinking back to international flights when I was traveling on business. But I feel like I also got this treatment on domestic Delta Economy Plus flights in recent years.
