Homemade Yellowjacket Trap


 
I didn't know they were meat eaters. Now I know why everytime I grill or bbq they come flying around.

Back home, growing up raising beef cattle, there were a couple of hornet traps in a couple of barns that hadn't been used in years. Big gallon jugs with sheet metal funnels, and printed directions on the side for baiting (including meat, IIRC.)

Oh yeah especially fish. I remember one time fishing and I had started putting the boat up and the fish were in the trap. I heard this weird cruching noise and could not figure out what it was. Until I saw how quickly the fish were swarmed and being devoured so quick you could literally hear their jaws crunching on the fish. Gotta tell ya it was scary
