Here is my 2025 grill that i will be restoring, Genesis 1

Are you thinking something different for restoration flips vs restoration keepers?

Yeah. I love seeing pics of what everyone does. I would prefer keepers to have their own individual dedicated threads. We do get quite off topic from time to time, but just a thread of finished grills heading out to someone to use and enjoy for years to come! I like looking at pics of what people do, how they do it.

Sometimes I feel like I post too much of what I am doing, but my hope is that someone can see something I did that maybe they hadn't thought of, of gives them an idea to try something with their own twist. Because I have picked up a lot of little things from this forum (see: Weberitis), that assist me in restoring these into like new cookers. That was why I posted a more in-depth thread on the wheel revival. Maybe it will help someone who is just lurking around trying to clean up their old cooker, or someone who flips multiple grills/year.

I see it as a hobby and I can make a little money doing it. Most hobbies cost money... not this one, yet. lol

I remember when I first came here I was thinking there should be an easy place to see pics of people's projects without sifting through everything to try and find Restorations. It does help that you can search keywords but it's still pretty hard to find a lot of stuff. Without doing a lot of sifting through.

I run a hi-fi discord and I have a section where people can show their Hi-Fi setup. I have it set up so they can only post pictures and not words. Keeps it from cluttering. And then there's a section next to it where people can ask and answer questions about their pictures. If there was a way to do something like that here that would be really cool.

I think there already is a system for consolidating restored grill threads:

I was just looking at that this morning but nothing that I was looking for was in there

Yeah, that one requires the thread creator to tag the thread for it to show up in there.
Which is something I've never heard of here. Maybe if it was more well-known or maybe a step that you have to go through when creating a thread

I just checked and it's clearly in there when you post a thread it's just something I never noticed before or understood what it's for

Well, one good thing about that system above is that it keeps each build separate. Otherwise we get 10 different members commenting on three different builds all at once in the same thread it gets confusing....Well, I get confused anyway. LOL

The way this forum is set up is way better than say one on Facebook as far as keeping everything straight and being able to find things.

Am I the only one who uses the warming rack? When my platinum is done, it will have one of those and why I affectionately call the tater basket. Because I love a good baked potato, and all I’ve heard is that’s the only thing they’re good for.

When Sue cooks baked potatoes, she lays them in the charcoal on my SSPerformer.
The skin is burnt to a crisp but they are sooooooooo good☺️
I’m the cook in our house and if I did that to her tater, I’d fare better dragging home another grill for the back patio 🤣

But that does sound good. I used to “bake” them in the side areas between the baskets on my not yet an SSP
