Here is my 2025 grill that i will be restoring, Genesis 1

Will that need a light blasting or can the porcelain coater guy clean up the grime and rust?

I would think it would look new after a re porcelained job but can't say for certain.

I am sure it would look new after recoating, but I think the rust and other impurities need to be removed before having them recoated...Right???

I think I have two of that style grease tray. But only one of the wire baskets. They are kind of neat.

I would think it would grind off. But that dust would be absolute poison to your lungs.

That is why I said a light blast, just to get them cleaned up...or will that be done by the porcelain guy.

Ok, in the classic vehicle industry, there is a saying about over restoring a car/truck.
If I was to have the cookbox and lid sides powdercoated with high heat powder, wouldn't I be over restoring my Genesis 1 ?
Opinions/comments please.
Am I over thinking this a little ?

Honestly, for how good the boxes and end caps turn out with $20 of spray paint I struggle to see much value in the high heat powdercoat. Unless they could replicate the texture?

In no way am I trying to skimp out on this restoration.

I wouldn’t see that as skimping. I see it as spending wisely. Frame, wire racks, Z bars, wood, I think would be better places to spend the time and money. Especially on the handle.

I see nice wood handles on eBay for 40 buck, I think.

I’m zero help with refinishing wood. I’ve yet to tackle rebuilding the old style tank scale. So if you’re going to do that, I’d love to see what you do with it.
