Hello to all I am from Melbourne well 75k south on the coast of Aussie land.

I started my cooking about 70 years ago, when I was about 16 we had an old “One Fire Stove” that had little round hot plates that could be removed, I would take that off place an old wire cake stand and cook a steak on when I came home after nigh trade school.

This is how I learnt to cook a Steak

My mother cooked on a similar stove from the mid 1930s to the late 1960s

I have cooked fish on the beach in a with couch spring, fish in the tropics islands of Aust in a plough blade.

I recently pulled out a 30yld natural Gas BBQ that I could turn into a full oven and do a full pig or lamb, very easily.

I have just replaced it with a Weber Q 22O AU Natural Gas.

After 70 years of cooking I am on a massive learning curve.

There are plenty of BBQ forums but this one looks like the one I am looking for a Weber Specialist Forum.

Here are a few photos of Before and After

Welcome Keith!! Love the brick kitchen but man...that old CI stove stole the show for me! I would love to have one!

cannot help you with the Weber Q Keith, but holey balls dude!
WELCOME to our ADDICTION!:wsm: Get Smokin'!!

Thank you all very much its certainly appreciated.

The return bench on the RH side doubles up as a work bench for the garden.

It has a power outlet and a switch for the lights either side of 12ft X 12ft roofed area.

It was built to last, on the LH side was a storage area for all the other BBQ bits and pieces, other areas garden bits and pieces.

Seeing the Weber Q does not have a grill & hot plate system, this is how I cook a few eggs and mushrooms.

It a simple Cast Iron Pan, the handle is screwed on/off and that makes it very easy to close the lid and take the pan off the Grill.

The eggs are added when I turn the steaks over and cooked perfectly.

The Weber separate hot plate is just too big too cook a few eggs, and totally useless if I want to cook any sauces while I am grilling.

Wow Keith, you have a great set up. I used the slight smaller, propane version of the Weber Q on my road trip this summer. Worked like a champ. About the only thing I couldn't do well was get low, steady temps. Love the screw off handle pan for the eggs. Looks like a well-seasoned pan.

Are you thinking of expanding to wood/charcoal fires or have you had enough in your prior years?

I didn't try to burn wood chips in the Q to add smoke, but that would add an interesting element.

Eric

A fisherman I see.

Before the Weber was a 30yld 5 burner Natural Gas BBQ I used to do a lot of big cooking but no more getting to old for that now let the kids do it now.

As there are only the two of us home now, and that is the perfect unit for outside cooking.

I also do all the home cooking as well, its a loving hobby of mine cooking for some one who appreciates my cooking.
