Hi, I just picked up a 2002 Performer off Craigslist from a divorcee who listed it as a "gas Weber". She had it listed for $75 and I paid $60. I managed to find a place that would fill up my uncertified 5 lb tank, and I disconnected the igniter, cleaned it out and it's working again. Burner is a big yellow flame mess but I don't really care as it's just starting the charcoal.

I'm in the middle of converting my main grill a Broil King Sovereign 90 to Natural Gas so thought I'd fiddle around with a charcoal grill in the meantime. After cooking twice on the Performer, I am hooked. Forgot how good charcoal is- only problem is I don't trust it on my composite deck. I have it out on my driveway (my driveway is 100 feet long so it's not too low brow looking, lol).

I would post a pic but can't figure out how to upload one here.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Here is a pic of the grill on the day I brought it home:

JordanT;
Welcome to the Forum. You'll LOVE it here. Lots of good people with great cooking skills. You made a wonderful "score". I have two Performer's and consider them the best grill on the planet, bar NONE!

I picked up my first on Craig's List for fifty or sixty dollars and after it was cleaned up a bit and some minor repairs, it's grilled and smoked some wonderful meals. My second one I got last fall at a give-a-way mark down from Home Depot (new floor sample for fifty dollars). My first has the gas starter the second without. However, makes little difference as one Weber starting cube lights my Weber chimney without issue. I treasure them both!

Keep the pictures and cooks coming!

Keep on smokin',

Welcome Jordan of Long Island (great ice tea by the way) Nice BBQ you picked up

Get a pair of charcoal racks, and you'll be making some killer BBQ (indirect) with that bad boy

Great looking old Performer, I have similar one but not that nice. I grew up on LI, left when I joined the Navy and settled in Virginia.
