Thank God for my wife’s son and his buddy! My niece and brother in law were here lugging stuff too!
The butt was almost 12# and I ended up running a touch hotter than normal but the end result was lovely. Potato salad, macaroni salad, perfect Manhattan’s, lots of water, plenty of ice. And at 74* with virtually no humidity, it was probably the best day for that much moving I’ve ever had.
Sunday, we were totally exhausted. Drove up for a butter pecan ice cream cone at Plainwell Ice Cream, loafed the way back, went to the kids place to let their dog relieve itself and finally home for a “Betty White” dinner of vodka and hotdogs!

Just stain,

CF780ED6-DB6D-4BC6-8319-A0DFA896AC5B.jpegFirst coat of finish is curing out right now, #2 will go on around lunchtime, #3 just before the guy leaves this evening.
I‘ve been looking at some of the furniture and thinking about where things might move.
There are a couple of antiques need some professional love so, we will have some “extra space“ for a little while (whatever the heck that is) but, it will be nice to try some different arrangement.
will be celebrating grandson’s birthday this weekend so, I need to think about what to make for the guy! We did a lunch for granddaughter with peach cobbler, Caprese salad and, wings so, this will be his day, Saturday!
I’ll need to think about dinner tonight too! By tomorrow, all I will really be able to do is reset enough of wifeys office so she can work. I won’t move anything in ”seriously“ until Friday but, yippie, the end is in sight!

12# pulled pork butt.
The cross hatched fat cap probably threw you.
That and the fact that I had to get it pulled pretty quickly. One of the guys had to get home to let his dog out!
Going on 5:00 and it’s all done. Walkable now with care, I will get light things in tomorrow and re arrange art tonight.

Tim, you have lucky grandchildren my man.
Thank you but, I am the lucky one!
Wife’s son is a fabulous Father, their Mom is great They ALL helped!
Just got a temporary office set up for Miss Sandy, I feel pretty good about how this has worked out. I just found one minor bit of damage to the antique table which I will just put a cloth on and not worry about.
I’m just a cranky old fart, now if I can just those other kids off my lawn…

Follow up excitement!
I had to call my plumber this morning after heading down to run laundry, wet floor!
“Call Roto rooter when you see, your basement full of, poo and pee!” Cleaned up just a bit per posting guidelines😉.
Joys of homeownership!

Joan, you asked after some “completed” pictures, just a minute…
Not everything is quite finished, 1/4 sawn oak bookcases are being built to go aside the TV.
The stereo stuff will go into the cabinet below the TV, I think. And my desk is getting a caster replaced by my furniture guy.
We are 25 days away from our “cottage time” and I have a ton to get ready for that too!
Oh, yesterday was my grandson’s birthday too! I’ve been as busy as a one armed wallpaper hanger!

Tim, that is a lot of work.

Yes, you are due for a real nice "break". I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the updates, can't wait to see your new bookcases. ;)

Your floor looks great! It's a big, messy job. I know, I've done it before.
I’m nuts but, I’m not so batty as to have done the work myself, I hired the sanding and finishing phase, I just packed and moved the first floor clear. Things are coming in more deliberately, good fresh polish on all the furniture, sorting boxes of stuff before it comes back in. Hopefully the bookcases will be done in another couple of weeks and then the boxes can be recycled!
