Since the kids are in college, we usually only cook a day or two a week here. Better get the grilling done now; a little snow due tonight and tomorrow... traces of the white stuff still lingering in my neighborhood.
For tomorrow's dinner I grilled up a 3.5 lb chicken from my friends at Goffle Road Poultry in Wyckoff, NJ. Marinaded Thai Gai Yahng style with minced shallots, ginger, white pepper and soy. Not pictured: made some roasted butternut squash soup to go with it.
Kept the fire on either side of the chick and flipped her once to finish. Rubbed all over with garlic oil before grilling indirect.
For tonight's dinner I thought it would be fun to do my take on moules-frites, Belgium steamed mussels and fries. Sorry, nothing grilled here.
Mussels were done stovetop in a light coconut-milk curry.
Russets were roasted in the oven with ground green, white, and black peppercorns.
Also for tonight was grilled baby octopi and fennel-orange salad. The octopi were simmered until tender with garlic and lemon, then tossed with a little garlic oil and lightly grilled.
Everything served up with some homemade garlic aoli for the taters. Thanks for stopping by. Hope everyone is well.
