Yeah it kind of almost feels like cheating. This isn't hard work but it's still rewarding. Also a lot more enjoyable to not be rushed or rush myself. Just work on it a little bit piece by piece. Part of me wants to rush because there's so many more projects lined up after this one already but I'm resisting that and just going to take my time and enjoy this easy one. That would be a fun one because you aren't really restoring it so much as you are just giving a good cleaning to a grill that was never really used and then kept inside most of its life.
It's all coming along pretty good so farCouldn't sleep so I got up to polish my original manifold and clean my original burners. I almost feel like I'm cheating. This isn't work.
These things are like brand new.View attachment 95828View attachment 95829View attachment 95830
You should enjoy it, it will probably never happen again that way.but I'm resisting that and just going to take my time and enjoy this easy one.
The hard question is will I be able to get myself to use it? After it's spotless inside. You should enjoy it, it will probably never happen again that way.
If you can use it, you're a better man than I am. I wouldn't be able to for sure and it would be what I call a garage grill. The hard question is will I be able to get myself to use it? After it's spotless inside.
I don't have a nice big shop to display it in. Also don't think my wife will let me display it in the living room
Only problem is. I have two car garages and two cars filling them. I have to pull my truck outside to work on my BBQs in the garage but when it's finished it's either going to have to go on the back patio for grilling or covered in the shed or covered in the yard. Not the greatest options for a garage queen Grill. If you can use it, you're a better man than I am. I wouldn't be able to for sure and it would be what I call a garage grill.
Yummy Cheese burgers!! That's a tough call though.A dozen 70% cheeseburgers would break that in nicely.
We don't really park our cars in the garage unless it's in the winter and there's a snowstorm coming. Even still, I have what you would call a 2.5 car garage so I can still fit a bunch of stuff in it along with the cars if I need to. In my own sick sense of humor, I think it would be great if that grill lived outside so do what you need to on that one.Only problem is. I have two car garages and two cars filling them. Come on Dan, it's different with cars. There's probably nothing better than taking a nice, restored classic car for a drive on a nice day and then putting it safely back in the garage. Grills just get ****ty if you use them.note to self:
never clean a grill so well I don't want to cook on it
never restore a car so well I don't' want to drive it
Yeah I saw some high temp clear the other day. Curious if anyone's ever tried it?It's a beauty. Maybe if want to preserve the emblem just like it is, hit it with a touch of that satin clear coat
IIRC a number of members have used it. Pretty Sure Jon hasYeah I saw some high temp clear the other day. Curious if anyone's ever tried it?
