Grass Fed Steaks

So I was in the meat dept. today going to buy pork or something else and I spotted Rib Eye's for an incredible price after what I have seen the past several months. Grabbed my Butcher Buddy and asked ***. He explained that Aussie Beef is all free range, not fed grain like American Beef and the price is substantially less. All the way from Aussie Land and cheaper! I had to try

Put them through a one day dry down and it worked nice

After a day in the fridge

Making a pepper, onion, mushroom side. Added one mostly seeded Jalapeno, garlic sliced thin and when cooking added S&P along with a little
Worcestershire Sauce

Steaks dressed with S&P, at room temp and then a light coat of EVOO, then on indirect first and then for a sear, after the turn. Dressed with melted butter with garlic slices in it

Hey Bill. Nice post! I had picked up some Aussie steaks last year as well. The problem for me was that they were so lean, they were a bit tough. And without the fat, I had to season heavily so they'd have some flavor.
But yours looks great!

Gary these are leaner than what you would normally get in a better steak but were not tough at all and the flavor was very good

Looks delicious Bill. We have a daughter who only likes grass fed beef. I'll be on the lookout for these. Love the Naan too!

Good looking steaks my friend.

I saw carne asada and it said imported from Australia. It was also cheap but not as marbled. They we good anyways.

Looks really good Bill. Just cook those leaner steaks a little less and they should be fine. Nothing wrong with adding a little bacon or butter (maybe both?) to them either, I guess. :p

They look good. The only experience I've had with grass fed beef was when I got a roast at Whole Foods, which was way overpriced, and I cooked it too long to the point where it was inedible. :( This was also when I thought I needed my meat well done.

Great cook Bill! Like the idea of the leaner beef, will be looking for that for a occasional cook on my diet.

Best steak I ever had was from a grass fed cow. Mind you it was about 10 weeks after the thing had chased me through the field and made me dive over a fence. Who's laughing now you stupid cow. Revenge is sweet.

Lol! I'm dying over here, Bob. Too funny.

And food looks great! Always like the prep pics.

That's too funny Bob. When I was a Yute visiting my families farm in Michigan we tried to ride a cow by jumping on their backs, they did not like that and we got tossed all over and chased off when they ganged up on us.

Good to hear. i've passed this exact cut/brand of steaks up at ShopRite a bunch of times (August was when they first hit the coolers with the el cheapo pricing). Now, I'm going to pick up a couple.
