Got my Vieluxe, now what??

You and I are on the same page, Jeff. I finally broke down and bought a Sony A8G, which is wonderful for watching movies and everything else. The VT is a great TV. I have 9th generation Kuros. A PDP-141FD, a KRP-500M and a PDP-5020FD. Gave a PDP-6020 to a friend. You're the one guys who gets what those are and how awesome they once were.

A nice deal on the LG OLED C1 just in time for the Super Bowl.

That's a darn nice looking piece you have there!

I'll suggest, and I might be crazy, but something to think about: red knobs. We have a Wolf range in our house (came with the house, it's awesome) and the previous owners had put black knobs on it but left the red knobs behind. I put them on about two years ago and it really makes it pop. With those red wheels, red knobs would bring that to the next level! I don't know where you would get them, but lots of people here have painted knobs and or dyed them, I'm just thinking out loud. Of course, then you'd have to paint the logo red too, or at least the triangle. I'm just saying that is something I would consider doing to give it pop.

Does anyone know what this tab on the hood is for? There is only ONE tab on left side:

Right side of hood has no tab, and there are no weld marks whatsoever to indicate that it was ever there and subsequently broke off.

Also, when smoker box lid (located on left side) is open, this tab prevents hood from closing. If this is purpose, then why do two other Vieluxe grills on this forum show TWO tabs, one on each side:

Could there be an answer in the owner’s manual?

I’d be surprised if they actually changed anything from year to year on these for such a limited run piece, but if it helps, mine dates out as a 2004 according to the serial number. I do have an owner’s manual I can grab for a look-through when I’m back out in the shop tomorrow. If I find anything, I’ll check back in with an update.

Attaching pdf file of owner’s manual. And available online:

Can’t find any mention of the tabs. The hood, or lid as it’s referenced in manual, isn’t mentioned a lot other then 11 warnings to “open the Lid” before lighting. Sheesh

Thank you mr Hyde. You and I are both in the crazy camp then, I’ve thought about coloring knobs too. So many dials, twisting turning, like a DJ booth.

The NS setup is new to me. The 6 burners are paired. I think Summits are configured like this (Summit owners can you confirm?). The left burner of each pair must be lit first before lighting the right burner. Knobs are labeled “Left” and “Right” but hard to tell them apart:

Also, it’s hard to differentiate between off (12 o’clock) and low (6 o’clock). Knobs have ridges on one end to indicate which is the business end. However, the ridges are on the sides so hard to see looking down. My Genesis has a nub on top of knob, easier for me to tell which way is up:

Lastly, owner’s manual (page 1) depicts knobs of different sizes, like new Summits. Easier to glance and distinguish I think. But every Vieluxe picture I’ve seen has same-sized knobs:

I’m being knit picky about knobs, but with burning food, dusk lighting, hangry guests and a panel of identical dials, I foresee getting frazzled.
