Next I have to clean and prep the frame for paint and some miscellaneous parts. Maybe I'll be ready to paint tomorrow.
I saw those yesterday at Home Depot. $19 I think for the whole set. I have a Dewalt 20V XR with a hammer drill feature. Right now I'm using an angle grinder and a 6" diameter brass wire wheel and it's hard to manage and get into corners and small spaces. I also have a pretty powerful corded drill with a handle that I have been using but it has no impact feature. Are you engaging the impact feature? If so, do you think my 20V XR powerful enough?Yes it works great!

The speed and torque of a high-quality impact gun makes a big difference for me though also.
Yes I think so. I would definitely give it a try. I won't even try my angle grinder. That just sounds dangerous to me. If it gets caught up it just rips on your arm where as an impact will just click if it starts to jam up. Saves your body.I saw those yesterday at Home Depot. $19 I think for the whole set. What setting would you put the Dewalt on ‐ "hammer" or just a high torque setting?Yes I think so. I would definitely give it a try. I won't even try my angle grinder. Highest torque or speed setting or both. Not hammer. I haven't tried one of these before but I think it's worth a shot. Why notWhat setting would you put the Dewalt on ‐ "hammer" or just a high torque setting?
Thanks! You are right about the angle grinder, it a really bear to control.Highest torque or speed setting or both. Not hammer
I think the torque is equally important because if you don't have the torque the impact is just going to be clicking the whole time and not doing its job. That's my experience with low torque. Super annoying.I think it’s all about the speed the impact can spin. The added torque is also nice, except for when it grabs an edge.
How long do the wire brushes last? I’ve been using I believe, tool shop brand from Menards. They last, and are really cheap but they don’t chew thru the paint like that. Even with my XR impact.
Hate to bug you more but I watched your video again and I'm amazed how fast your Dewalt tears through that paint. Your interiors look fantastic too. I assume you are using it on endcaps too. Can you send a picture and model number of the exact Dewalt impact wrench you are using. I think it has a whole lot more torque than any of the drills I'm using to get the results you get.Josh, that wheel looks like it works great. Do you have a model number or link to the wheel? Does it also work for the carbon build up on the insides of the cookboxes and endcaps as well?

That is definitely the way to go! Only reason I bought a new DeWalt is because I already have that platform of Batteries/Charger. I use all the brands at work and all major brands make great high-end offerings.I don't even bother with the cup brushes in my Ryobi drill, totally ineffective. I did find a Ryobi tool(I'm not changing tool platforms this late in the game) that has similar power numbers to what Josh is using.
Thank you Josh! I really think it's a function of having more torque which translates to more speed under pressure. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled on Marketplace for a lightly used one. Or a media blasting cabinet!@Val Deale

Here is the newest one I have but my old one is great also.
My decade old Dewalt XR is great also. I have beat on it hard for about 10 years. Knowing that I wouldn't be nervous to pick up an old used DeWalt XR impact.Thank you Josh!
