Good point Steve! There really isn't too much on one of those that can even be replaced if you think about it.

Not without some one off custom work! There really isn't too much on one of those that can even be replaced if you think about it.
No, I'm stripping the cookbox and lid end caps inside and out. If I paint in the morning and it's about 75°F all day I may assemble late tomorrow night or the following morning. It will be nice to get it all back together but no hurry. I still have the wood slats and Z-Metal to work on.Are you only stripping the one side? When I paint that stuff I usually let it dry for at least a whole day before I start thinking about putting it together again.
Frame looks nice and shiny, I still can't believe it justed needed a waxing.Started getting it back together

Got lucky again!Frame looks nice and shiny, I still can't believe it justed needed a waxing.
Of course, it's you,Got lucky again!
I'd say Semi Gloss but I could see an argument for Satin. This is my third old Weber restoration with a nice enough frame to just wax and not repaint. My green lid 1000LX time capsule barn find was pretty much flawless and my Redhead 2000 wasn't far from that. This Jr has some small marks here and there but definitely worth keeping it with original paint and stickers. Just my opinion/preference if possible. I'll post some pics of these frames with original paint and stickers to get a better idea of the finish/sheen. Kind of hard to tell in pictures but maybe you can judge for yourself.Josh, when I get my frame powdercoated, I tell the guy to use satin, should I be telling him a different black ?
I don't think the frames were gloss when built.
Thanks Mark!Thank you very much, them grills you are working on look so beautiful, you sir, are a master%
I would think so but I'm not 100% sure. My 1985 first year first generation Genesis 2 was tied up with wire. It looked factory but I'm not sure. I believe my Genesis 3 does have the support bracket. I can't remember off the top of my head what year that one is. Also my later Genesis 2 has a support bracket also.Josh, would my Genesis 1 have been born with a manifold support bracket ?
If yes, it was no where to be found.View attachment 105821
Here is something interesting. In the Schematics I clearly see the bracket in the Genesis 2000 but I'm not seeing it in the Genesis 2.Thank you, yes, my thoughts are that mine should have had one.
I can aquire one fairly easily, I will polish it up good but will not paint it.
Again, thanksView attachment 105822
Evaporust is INCREDIBLEI had never heard of that!
A friend of mine swears by CRC evaporust. I’ve never used it but I’ve seen a lot of great reviews.
