They all came with one, they usually fall off the grill when it's being moved.

Are you guys sure the very early first generation Genesis came with manifold support? my 1985 was wired up and it looked factory.
I found that grill 100% all original everything there. That's why I'm curious. Definitely could have been done by someone after but it looked like it could have come that way.

Because of the way the grills were shipped it's highly unlikely that it came that way from the factory. More likely is that the original manifold bracket was lost and the owner wired it up as a replacement for it.

If it did come that way on the very early ones I can see why they changed it right away. I'll see if I can dig anything up and find out for sure one way or the other.

I think you are most likely 100% right. I have not found anything to support the fact that any others came wired on the very early first generation. I'm still looking though.

Sounds good, if you had a picture of how you found the grill or the original owners manual it may have shed a better light on the subject.

If they rolled them over uneven surfaces that old bracket style comes unhooked. It’s happened to me just rolling them on my driveway where it’s bumpy.

I had a couple older restores that came with a wrapped wire support instead of a Manifold Bracket. The first one I thought was a owner installed item but it was perfectly made.

I wonder if they went to the wire style with the square tube manifolds. I’ve yet to see a round manifold with the heavy wire.

So I'm painting the Cook box and lid end caps now. First time using a roller. Low nap for light texturing to try and match factory finish as close as possible. I think it turned out pretty darn good. Here's a tiny sneak peek if you zoom in on the cook box lol.

It does appear to have some amount of texture. I kinda like it.
