Genesis Jr Restoration

I'm ok with smaller push nuts on my tank weight scale. I think it will look good. I'm also using 9930 SS Summit grates cut down and Dave's custom SS flav bars instead of the original stamped grates and thinner original flav bars. Also not staining the wood with original color stain. Also my white walls are reproduction.

If Weber still had the originals available I'd buy them. Otherwise these generic ones will do.

I have several original ones in Washington. If for some reason I don't like these smaller ones I can bring some back with me to Arizona in February.

If I do convert it to NG the tank scale will obviously be removed. That will probably end up happening in the near future. I just want to make sure I love using it first.

Stayed up after my wife and daughter went to bed. Made a little progress. Cleaning up the original grease tray and catch pan and catch pan holder. I brought some back-up parts that I won't be needing because these cleaned up very nicely. Biggest surprise was the catch pan holder cleaning up perfectly. Which is great because I don't have a spare old style catch pan holder.

Josh, did you paint them ?
Nope just cleaned up the porcelain enamel with a razor blade and 0000 Steel Wool. Than rubbing compound and a coat of wax. This 1988 Junior doesn't look like it got used more than a handful of times. I bet it has the original porcelain enamel grates and flav bars in it and show almost no wear. Even though I'm replacing them with 304 SS I bet they clean up nicely also.
The white walls definitely didn't fair well in the desert heat but pretty much everything else did. I think it spent quite a while in the storage warehouse I got it from.
