Go with what works. FWIW I had bought some real "el-cheapos" of those and I had a couple of them fail. They would not pass gas. I know it seems ridiculous but I never had a Mr Heater fail and I know those Marshall ones would not either
 
This may be unnecessary and/or ridiculous but I found same brand Marshall that I will be using for my old Marshall regulators

Great way to save the ones that still have the quick connect fitting on them, and why not use original parts?
 
I wish someone would make and sell SS pins. They would so easy to manufacture for a metal shop.

I am sure the original pins are zinc plated/galvanized plain steel. By spinning them in a drill like that, I would think you would wind up removing most of that plating and open them up to even faster rusting in the future. But, to be honest, I do the same. I don't know of any reasonably priced sources for new ones.
