I ask this as kindly as possible. It’s a glorious grill and you did an outstanding job on it, but why didn’t you use the HH Ultra on the cookbox? Maybe it’s just us purists that see it, maybe it’s just me?

Cody, Bruce always uses a matte finish on the cookbox exterior and semi-gloss on the end caps - as on this one - which I have always thought was closest to original. I myself just prefer to use semi-gloss on both even though I don’t think it is as original.

What are you thinking it should be?

Yah, just how I have always done it. I would prefer a "satin" finish for both however.

Again, I wasn't being critical. Just curious as to the reasoning. The view from the side just triggers my OCD a little bit. Obviously I know it works and they sell fine and perform as they should. In the 'barn find' posts and the recently bought in a box and assembled thread, I don't see much of a difference in the cookbox vs. the end caps and frame like there is with the flat bbq black and the HH Ultra.

I guess I am all alone in that thought?

Nope, I have thought about both ways as well. I just settled on this method.

We need to get together soon and try out spraying that Krylon Satin stuff. I think using that on both the end caps and cook box would be a good system and probably look closer to the original sheen as well.

School is over on Tuesday. Wednesday we get new furniture delivered, and then on Thursday it turns into whatever Cody wants to do time! Well, until the wife informs me of 'my' plans. If you are up to load some stuff up and come down here on a Saturday/Sunday, I think we can have a very productive day! I will figure out a day that works and PM you.
