About as far as I am going to go on this one. Did not replace the handle on the lid, might consider doing that Monday but not today. I could not buff out the stain underneath, not even sure what that is or maybe just because it is 47 years old it is just there. I did replace the charcoal grate and the cooking grate with a hinged one. Kept the chip marks inside the bowl, reminds me that it is 47 and only 10 years younger than me. ( I have many chips on my old *** lol. ) Posting it for sale today, not sure yet how much but at least for what I have in it.

That turned out great, Horace! Beautiful workmanship. I think it’s one that patience will be needed in selling it. Hopefully, you can have the opportunity to explain to those who don’t know the benefits of the three vents on the bottom and the built to last quality that kept this classic kettle still ready to cook for many years to come.

I had originally posted for $170 with all new grates. However I went ahead and put the original charcoal grate back and reduced to $150. The original cooking grate actually isn't in bad condition so I may clean it up and put it back, plus reduced the price then. One thing I noticed about the original grate, it feels heavier than the new one. I am in no hurry to sell, yes someone will appreciate it. As of now though, getting a lot of people laughing at the price and age.

Those older grates were definitely thicker gauge. Unfortunately, they, too, were nickel chrome plated, so they still ultimately rust out.

Let those who don’t get it laugh all they want. I just hope the right person will see it and be very happy to get it.

With 3 daisy wheel vents that grill would be great as a smoker. $150 is the same price as a new one but the daisy wheels are an upgrade.

Personally I use a plastic scrapper to remove the ash each time I grill so I don't see the one touch cleaning system the benefit Weber makes it out to be.

Highlight it's ability to control temperature. The people laughing at the price don't know what they are missing.

Yeah, it was a little dear but, the almost infinite adjustability of the daisy wheels, and simple age. Make it very desirable indeed!
