Does a yellow kettle really turn orange when hot?

YES!

With the generous help of @Bruce, I recently got this very restorable - and so very cool - yellow Weber kettle. It was a long-time wish list item. I did a basic wash yesterday so that I could give it at try this afternoon before doing a more thorough restoration.

I only got to about 500 on this quick cook of burgers, but I would guess the color change might be more pronounced if you get the kettle screaming hot. It did show orange, though, especially at the hottest part of the lower half of the kettle.

The yellow looks great when it heats up! I wish I could say the same for my Grass Green one, it turns somewhere between puke and booger green! Sorry no pics…
