Deep Dish Pizza

My 2nd attempt, everybody agreed was better than my first attempt. Used pretty much the same ingredients as my first attempt. Mozzarella cheese, peperoni, sausage, mushrooms, jalapeno stuffed green olives, and pizza sauce.

Started out with and Antipasto salad. Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, kalamata olives, mild Giardiniera, and mozzarella cheese and rolled up then sliced some deli Genoa Salami, Provolone cheese, and peperoni. Made a dressing using some honey balsamic vinegar and basil Virgin olive oil.

Had some leftover pizza dough and made some garlic knots then melted some butter, added a little parm cheese, granulated garlic and tossed the knots into it. Pizza still need about 10 more minutes till its done.

Pizza is done and out of the CI pan

Leftovers, no plated pic, we just ate sort of animal style, when something hit the counter we all dug in!!

Awesome job! I was going to do deep dish earlier this week but didn't have time. Might be giving it a go this weekend.

So, was that just a standard pizza dough or a deep dish dough recipe?
.

So you did indirect directly on the grate. Do you know what temp you were running? Did you do a quick precook of the dough or not before you put the toppings on for the finish cook?

I put good amount of of olive oil in the bottom of the skillet before I put the dough in. My grill was 400+ degrees, not sure the actual temp. I put the CI skillet directly over the coals for 5 minutes then moved it indirect. Cooked it for 15 minutes and then rotated the pan 180 and cooked for another 15 minutes. Let the pizza rest for a good 20 minutes before slicing it up to let it firm up some.

Thanks for the input. I needed a starting point.

Great idea John, using the CI for the pizza. We do a lot of regular pizzas, but I love deep dish I'm going to give that a try for sure. And that salad is a work of art!

That is a awesome pizza John and I like how you used the left over dough. Like Rich said we do like deep dish pizzas. Too that point I just happen to have some pizza dough on hand just waiting for the CI.

That pizza looks absolutely delicious, John. Very nice. That salad looks spectacular! I'm going to remember that one. The garlic knots are a great idea to use up any extra dough. Those look great too.
