It looks like they put a newer lid from a 2004-2006 Gold onto an older Genesis 3000 grill.
I'm not usually a fan of the SS lids, but in this case it looks pretty good.

If it wasn't an hour away I would jump on it.I think that is the first time I ever seen a Stainless lid on a 1000-5000 grill.
It does look nice, Weber made them that way also. I've seen a few on Facebook marketplace just recently.I was thinking about putting one of those on a cabinet silver B. I think it would look pretty nice
Yes, the spirit branded ones with the round thermometer center mounted in the lid. I want to get my hands on one of those spirit black lids, too.It does look nice, Weber made them that way also. I've seen a few on Facebook marketplace just recently.

Oh yeah. Those too! I don't think they made those very long. Because you sure don't see them as often! That one does look really nice!I thought you were talking about one like this.View attachment 114145https://www.facebook.com/share/1AUjnCHigv/
Yes, it's an actual grill that was offered for sale just the way it sits. I have seen others just like it. Except for the badge, it's the same lid for a Genesis Gold of the era or even a Platinum for that matter. So, this is an actual grill, "not" a mod.
Nice Genesis 2. It's funny that the guy thinks it's about ten years old, it's closer to forty. Here’s a free one in Lincoln CA
