Curb Alert !!!

This is why I love this forum. That thought never once crossed my mind. I have quickly touched the frame close to the cookbox and it’s not skin searing hot. The end cap is a different story 🤣 One of these days I’ll have to remember to bring my surface temp reader home when I’m going to grill. Or remember to shoot the frame the next time I grill at work.
IR guns work on...well...IR, or infrared. Infrared is a wavelength, like visible light or radio waves. Materials emit infrared at different levels (emissivity). For fun, take a piece of bare copper or bare aluminum and heat it up with a torch, then measure it with your IR gun. That is what emissivity is. Copper and aluminum don't emit infrared very well, so keep in mind that your IR gun measures IR emissivity, not temperature. It's always going to be somewhat inaccurate or it could be extremely inaccurate, depending on the emissivity setting of what you are measuring. IR guns have an adjustment for emissivity but most people don't know what emissivity is, don't care, and never use it. Also, spot size ratio is an important factor when measuring infrared. That little LED spot on a cheap IR gun is strictly for aiming, although the TW IR gun (and probably others) gives a better idea of the size of the area that is measured.

I just look at these ads on my phone, which doesn't apparently show me how long it has been up. That could even be the grill that @Bruce bought to restore for all I know.
Sadly, there are so many inactive ads these days, in every category, so that is one of the first things I look at. The other thing I always check out is how long the person has been on FB or OfferUp. There are sooooo many scammers and unscrupulous wannabe flippers out there it's incredible. In this case, the person has been on FB since 2009, so there is an even chance that it's legit, but I have run into auctions on ebay where unused accounts have been hijacked. An absurdly low price is a huge red flag for me.

Yah, that grill would take good deal of work to get it back in good shape, but not to the point that it isn't reasonable.

Bottom line though is that it is free. Free is always good. Lots of good spare parts on it if nothing else.

Looks like there is a brand new warming rack in with that rotisserie.

I see a lot of useful stuff just in that small pic! With free liners and brand new grates, I would jump at it

So glad this thing is an hour away 🤣
Cody, having owned one of those, I'd advise against it even if it was a block away. Now if it had the rotisserie burner and kit might be a different story. But, those things are orphans, and there is no market appeal for them

I will gladly takes advice as my wife just asked me why there are 11 grills on my patio yesterday!

Were they at least decent cookers?

Mediocre at best. But great rotisserie machine. As a basic cooker it was somewhat crude/primitive. Very uneven no matter what I did to it. New burners, cleaned valves, new flame tamers and bed. IDK, it just did not do a very good job. I donated it to my brother in law's ministry
