First time trying beef shoulder steaks.
I bought these for $2.99/lb about 3 weeks ago.
The same store had them 'on sale' later for $3.99/lb, and this week they're $3.29.

New twist on the old nail in the tater trick, is was tricky when I turned them, wanted to roll back.

Dried well after spending a few hours in Stubb's beef marinade.

Lowered the grate center to the top of a basket of lump.

Side salad topped with sweet/sour tomatoes, and the dressing was some juice from the same tomatoes.

The steaks were great, good beef flavor with a bit of chew.

For you photo folks, the last shot is a heavy crop @ f4, 2200 ISO.
Noise reduction on these newer cameras is amazing!

Happy hump day everyone!
ps, Brooke loved the gristle strip cut from each steak.

Bob, the meal looks terrific and tasty and the quality of the 2200 ISO shot is amazing. I have an old canon 1DMKIIN and the quality sucks over 400.

Very nicely done, and thanks for the photo detail, would not have thought about such a setting

Very nice Mr. Cornell, a very tasty cheap steak you might want to try is the Top Blade Steak.

Picture perfect cooking again Bob! I know what your K5 is capable of and it will even go higher
ISO if needed with very little grain. My D7000 does just about the same, but normally I don't need it
that high, since I "cheat" inside with my bounce flash! ;) Whatever works!!!:D

Very nice looking steaks Bob!!! They look like flat iron steaks. Are they the same thing only different name or something different entirely?

Great score on the inexpensive high-quality steaks, Bob! Gotta love it when you find major bang-for-the-buck meat. Of course, the steak is only as good as the skill with which it's cooked, and you definitely got it right.
